Description
T-Mobile Sidekick LX Brown, Factory Refurbished, T-Mobile branded
Espresso brown is the second launch finish of the T-Mobile Sidekick LX, and this Brown lot is Factory Refurbished, T-Mobile branded, and working as a 2G handset where GSM service survives abroad. Retro-tech dealers pair it with the blue version for collectors completing a set, and film and TV prop departments take brown units for period-accurate dressing.
The T-Mobile Sidekick LX is the 2007 generation of the Sidekick messaging phone, built by Sharp on Danger's hiptop platform. It kept the swivel screen and full QWERTY keyboard the line was known for, and added a wide WQVGA LCD, a camera with flash, and mood lights that could be set per alert type, in midnight blue and espresso brown. It is a 2G GSM/EDGE device with no 3G, no LTE and no Wi-Fi.
Buyers take the Sidekick LX from TG Wireless for what it is today: a collector and prop item. Danger's servers were shut down in 2011, so email, IM, web and app-catalog services no longer work, and the hardware is bought for nostalgia, display and film use.

Condition: Factory Refurbished
Factory refurbished units have been reconditioned to close-to-new working order. They are not brand new and may show light signs of handling. TG tests and grades each unit before it ships. Tell your account manager whether you need units with the original box and accessories or handset-only packs; the mix varies by lot.
Network and compatibility
The Sidekick LX is a T-Mobile branded 2G GSM/EDGE handset. All three US national carriers retired 3G in 2022 and T-Mobile switched off 2G GSM on August 3, 2026, so it cannot register for calls or texts on any US network today, and its data features depended on Danger's servers, which were shut down in 2011. Lock state is per listing; see the network status line in the table. Expect a T-Mobile SIM lock unless noted. Realistic uses are collector, display and prop sales, and offline use of the keyboard, camera and games.
Resale fit
- Collector and retro-tech shops, where the Sidekick swivel screen is a recognized 2000s icon.
- Film, TV and theater prop houses needing a working-looking period handset.
- Display units and parts for restorers of Sidekick and hiptop devices.
